The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
Genesis 2:15
Across the world Presbyterians are working to promote sustainable practices as one way of taking care of God’s creation. A new group at CSPC called God’s Green Team will be sharing information about sustainable living and earth care.
For those who already recycle, you are used to putting cans and bottles in your recycling bins. Now local residents can add some hard- to-recycle items, such as egg cartons, packing peanuts and plastic grocery bags, to their weekly curbside disposal. Kroger stores and other retailers are selling orange Hefty ReNew bags to recycle the extra items. Once filled, the orange bags should be tied up and placed inside your recycling bins. Rumpke is sending the orange bags to recyclers that will use the material to create new products.
Here are a few of the items that can go in the orange bags:
- Chip bags, candy wrappers and granola wrappers
- Dry mix bags for cereal, cake mix, etc.
- Salad and cheese bags
- Bags for fresh or frozen vegetables and fruit
- Food storage bags
- Plastic grocery bags, and plastic wraps on toilet paper and paper towels
- Plastic straws, stirrers, utensils, plates and bowls
- Foam egg cartons, packing peanuts and foam package blocks
- Foam to-go containers, cups, plates and bowls
