How long have you been a member at CSPC? Why did you join? I believe it was 1993 when I first joined CSPC. Rob and I married in 1991 and moved to Villa Hills from Fort Thomas in ’93. I was a member of First Presbyterian of Dayton, Kentucky my whole life prior to 1993. We moved and joined two churches in Illinois (River Glen Presbyterian–both boys were baptized there–and later Oswego Presbyterian) but when we returned in 2012 we came back to CSPC because it felt like home to us. Rob’s parents (Donna and Ollie Rigney) were there and we wanted our kids to get the chance to attend church where their grandparents attended. If we are not at CSPC on some Sundays we are usually attending with my mom in Dayton, Kentucky.

What is your favorite memory at CSPC? My favorite memory at CSPC was in 1994. We had come home for Christmas from Illinois and my dad had to have open heart surgery on December 23rd. Pastor Mike Brewer prayed with us prior to surgery, a beautiful prayer which gave us so much peace and dad came through the surgery well. Our families attended CSPC for the candlelight Christmas Eve service the next day and I will never forget the overwhelming feeling of love I felt being greeted by our church family that night. It was a very emotional time.

What does it mean to you to be an elder? Both of my parents were elders in the Presbyterian Church so to me being an elder is continuing our family’s tradition of being a leader in the church for Christ. Keeping Christ central in the decisions for CSPC is important to me. It is truly a joy to be a part of such a wonderful group of people on session. We are also so blessed to have Pastor Carol there to guide us. I also enjoy serving as session liaison on the Congregational Care Committee. As a former Deacon I feel this is a perfect fit for me.

What are you excited about at CSPC? I love how CSPC supports the children in need in our area with its Food for Thought program. As a former teacher, I saw so many kids whose only meals were free breakfast and lunch at school. This program is wonderful in providing meals to cover kids in need on weekends and holidays. So glad we are involved in it.

I’m also excited that Pastor Carol Ferguson is here! I can see how God is working through her and bringing new life to CSPC! Our future looks bright!
